Changes to the Seattle Municipal Code

December 14, 2015 Fair Trade Music in the News 0

Fair Trade Music Seattle is proud to announce changes to the Seattle municipal code that will affect the music industry, including both venues and musicians. The revisions make it simpler for venues to get an exemption from the City admissions tax by simplifying the record keeping required, lowering the number of gigs per week that are required for an exemption from three to two, and eliminating the requirement for a minimum number of musicians per week. This new addition to the municipal code will also create a pathway for non-profit/arts companies to retroactively file for exemption.

Fair Trade Music Seattle would like to thank Seattle City Councilmember Nick Licata, Frank Video, Kate Becker, Motter Snell, AFM Local 76-493 and our many musician advocates who analyzed and testified on our behalf to accomplish this great step forward for our City of Music.
